Hazelnuts

HAZELNUTS - are  fruit of hazel.  Their shape is oval, about 2 cm in diameter. The nut is located inside a hard pericarp, in a green, cut-up pile. It contains about 62% fat, 17% protein, 7% sugar, vitamins and mineral salts. It provides oil used in the food industry (e.g. for making halva), pharmaceutical, perfume and dying industries. The biggest advantage of hazelnuts is that among the fat they contain a substantial part is  unsaturated fatty acids. That is why people who suffer from  an increased level of cholesterol should be encouraged to eat them. Hazelnuts are a significant source of protein and vitamins. They contain a lot of vitamins C and B, also a lot of minerals such as iron, magnesium, zinc, potassium, phosphorus and copper. Hazelnuts should be eaten by people suffering from insomnia and nervous problems, children with anemia, convalescents  and  people of any age exhausted by mental work, as the high content of  phosphorus in hazelnuts helps  restore functions of  grey matter.
